How to Cope with and Treat Ulcer PainIt’s no secret that ulcers are incredibly painful. Whether you have an ulcer in your stomach, your gastrointestinal tract, your mouth or on your skin somewhere, you know how amazingly painful they can be. Chances are that even the smallest ulcer can be excruciating, so if you are looking for a quick and easy way to treat ulcer pain, then keep reading, as we will examine some of the most common ulcer pain treatment options available today. In order to effectively treat ulcer pain, you must first examine what type of ulcer you have. All ulcers, although technically the same, require different treatment options if you want to get to the source of the pain. Since stomach ulcers are some of the most common ulcer types, we will begin with them. You should start treatment of a stomach ulcer with an antibiotic. While this will not immediately eliminate any of your pain, it will hasten the healing process, so your ulcer should last for a much shorter time than it otherwise would. If the pain is unbearable, be sure to take some painkillers when you need to, but stay away from aspirin products as they can be harsh on your stomach. When looking to treat a mouth ulcer, also known as the canker sore, you should stick with over the counter numbing agents that you can find in any supermarket or drug store in your area. These numbing compounds are great for easily accessible ulcers and can really help cut down on ulcer pain if you use them whenever the ulcer starts flaring up. Finally, if you have a venous or other skin ulcer, there is really no way for you to fully treat the ulcer pain you experience. However, if the ulcer pain is significant and chronic, you can try topical numbing agents like the ones you would use for a mouth ulcer as well as general painkillers like Tylenol, Advil or aspirin. Furthermore, artificial skin can be placed over the venous ulcer and help the healing process.
